TSHEGOFATSO MOTHAPO – RESEARCHER

Tshegofatso is a researcher at the CCL. She completed her LLB at the University of the Western Cape, followed by an LLM in durable solutions for unaccompanied minor refugee children at the same institution.

Tshegofatso’s commitment to making a meaningful impact led her to secure articles of clerkship at Lawyers for Human Rights in 2018. After completing her articles, she had the privilege of clerking for Justices Tshiqi and Mathopo at the Constitutional Court for two enriching years.

Her journey then took her to the University of Notre Dame, where she completed a second LLM in International Human Rights Law. Tshegofatso’s approach to advocacy is rooted in the belief that multiple tools and an intersectional lens are essential for addressing the complexities that her clients face. Her interests vary from cyber law to migration and statelessness. She has, of late, been dabbling in cultural rights.
